El ASCII comenzó en un edificio okupado sobre el canal Herengracht.	ASCII started in 1999 in a squatted building on the Herengracht.

Creamos un centro social junto a la plaza, lo que significaba un gran reto, somos parte del Centro Social Okupado VOX, en plena plaza del barrio de Exarjia. En este escenario, la acción desarrollada por un espacio okupado como el nuestro ha consistido en proponernos como catalizador de estas fuerzas (estudiantes y precarios) y activador de formas autónomas de institucionalidad.
